I am a fully qualified BACP Accredited and Registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I am also a BABCP Accredited CBT psychotherapist. I practise therapy near Heathfield, East Sussex. I offer both short-term cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which works well with more specific difficulties and longer-term ongoing psychotherapy.
I have been practising as a counsellor/psychotherapist in UK since 1999 before moving to Uganda and Kenya in Africa in 2001 where I have had in-depth experiences of working amongst diverse cultures within doctor's surgeries and private practice. This has led me to working compassionately with 'difference' and gaining a deeper understanding of people and the uniqueness that they bring to therapy sessions.
I am currently working part-time as a CBT psychotherapist for the NHS working in secondary care in Eastbourne giving me further experience working as part of a team. I have my own private practice and am registered with Bupa, Nuffield Healthcare, Health Assured as well as the Counselling Directory and Its Good To Talk, BACP.
I have also worked for ChildLine and The Samaritans (1996) and gained a diploma in child psychology giving me sufficient understanding when working with children. I feel passionate about the work I do and I look forward to welcoming you to therapy.
In addition to therapy, I have trained Certificate and Diploma students at Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institution in Nairobi, in topics including: Group Theory; Ethics; Supervision; Personality Traits where I also counselled couples, adults and adolescents.
At Kenya Association for Professional Counsellors (KAPC) - I facilitated a monthly Continuous Professional Development (CPD) group on topics including: Non-verbal Communication - Emotion Focused Practice; The Counselling Process; Anger Management; Counselling for Depression model; Depression and Anxiety; Counselling Creatively; Eclectic, Integrative or Purist? The Counselling Relationship and Supervision.
I have run 2 day workshops in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) covering the basic necessary skills and awareness for counsellors to use and continue to travel to Kenya to give CBT workshops.
